Dear guests and visitors
Please allow us to introduce ourselves. My name is Asim Ziyadkhanli (on the Right) and together with my younger brother Mickey (on the left) we have opened our new Bistro in the city centre of Haarlem.
Although Mickey is born in the Netherlands, I was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. We very much love our mother’s culinary arts and abilities. This got us to wonder whether our friends would love it as well. Luckily they indeed liked our cuisine, which in its turn led to the emergence of the idea to open a bistro and share our cuisine with a greater public.
Unfortunately we are missing a representation of our origins in the Netherlands. Hence we thought it would be a great idea to introduce a new kitchen.
However, since we like western dishes very much, we decided to create a menu that was a mixture of known meals and new foreign recipes.
You may wonder what “Caucasian” part actually means. No, it is not a description of appearance. The description “Caucasian Male” actually comes from the word Caucasoid, used to describe the European population, also known as Europoid.
The Caucasus is actually a region that spreads over multiple countries, among which Georgia, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. These countries share a similar culture and serve similar dishes. Some Eastern- European countries may also relate to this culture.
It is our objective to present new meals regularly so you can enjoy a new taste, whilst simultaneously maintaining known dishes on a fixed menu. See our menu for what we’ll serve and what will be new in the future.
Of course there will be a selection of wines, beers and liqueurs as well. You might have heard about the Georgian wine Marani, and the Azerbaijani wine Savalan.
We hope to see you soon at the Schagchelstraat nr 28
